Cornwall is undoubtedly a great place to spend a family holiday when the weather is warm and sunny like these past few weeks. Blessed with fantastic coastlines and beaches is a bonus but the thing we love most about Cornwall is the sheer variety of places to eat and drink. From historic 13th century pubs serving local Cornish beers and delicious homemade food to modern seafood restaurants including restaurants from famous chefs such as Rick Stein, Jamie Oliver and Nathan Outlaw.
Visitors and those on holiday in Cornwall are often on the hunt for a decent beach café where they can relax by the sea and enjoy some of the finer things in life. A special thanks to Cornish cottage holiday company West Cornwall Cottage Holidays who wrote the below article for our readers featuring five of the best beach cafes in Cornwall. We’ve sampled all five of these cafes and they are among the best for a combination of great views, relaxed vibes and quality food and drink.
1. Gylly Beach Café, Falmouth
Gylly Beach Café boasts one of the most picturesque spots in Cornwall, overlooking the thrashing ocean on winter days or the calm, deep blue ocean on a summer’s day. As well as this they serve wonderful food to accompany the fantastic views. The décor is very contemporary and modern, with outside seating on a deck with protective glass running along it so that you don’t get too cold, or lose anything you have on the table to the wind.
2. The Beach Hut, Watergate Bay
Arguably the best beachside café in Cornwall, the beach hut not only overlooks the waves but serves spectacularly good food. Whether you want a full meal or just a few drinks with a beautiful, then this is the perfect place to do so. They serve food throughout the day, so you can pop in at any time and get some, be it breakfast, afternoon tea or a full evening meal. You can also become a member of The Beach Hut and get use of the massage treatments that they have available, use their pool and relax in their lounge.
3. The Watering Hole, Perranporth
The Watering Hole is the only bar in the UK that is located on the beach. The Watering Hole has a fantastic, warm and welcoming atmosphere that allows you to feel right at home in a place you may have never been before, which is a rare quality. As well as serving food, drink and providing a fantastic view, The Watering Hole provides live entertainment and regularly has local bands playing on the beach. It has also recently chosen by CheapFlights as the 7th best beach bar in the world. If you love it when you’re there, and I would be surprised if anyone was unimpressed with it, then you can support them and buy some of their clothes from their very own clothing range.
4. Blue Bar, Porthtowan
Blue Bar in Porthtowan is a fantastic bar and kitchen located right on Porthtowan beach. The special thing about this beach is that it is a fantastic spot for surfers, whether they are experienced or complete novices. So whether you want to go for a surf and then relax afterwards with a drink and some food, or you want got for a nice, calm evening with a meal and watch the surf, then this beach is perfect for you. It also offers some wonderful coastal paths that you can walk on after or before you go for a drink/meal.
